Litfass' Soul
May 1 - July 18 2022
Bauhaus Museum
Weimar, Germany
Litfass’ Soul is a wearable Litfaßsäule costume and an accompanying series of posters. Using the form of the German advertising column as a disguise, the costume can be worn in any public space: The resulting performance is a blend of slapstick comedy and new materialist live-action-role-playing, as the Litfaßsäule delivers its message to the audience directly.
For this installation in the Bauhaus museum, a series of posters were commissioned from the MFA Public Art and New Artistic Strategies students participating in LOST IN TRANSLATION. A dialogue is created and displayed as the international group posts their ongoing visual research in the museum lobby.
